Error message when trying to record?

Hello there,

I'm on Windows Vista home premium. I'm trying to record audio onto Adobe
Audition. Initially when the settings on my laptop were on recording
microphone I could record on Audition through my microphone. But I also
needed to record output from my laptop as well, so changed the settings to
"stereo mix".

However, there's times when I need to record through the line in microphone.
But, an error message now comes up saying:

Microphone Real Tech High Definition Audio.
Error Code FF9-5-0044 (8000 4005).
Device could not be opened.


Please let me know if you have any ideas how to rectify this? Thanks. I do
have SP1 wanting to install itself but haven't yet done it coz I know some
people have had a few problems with it.
