Can't get music off iPod

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to empty my iPod into Windows but having difficulty. I am
following some instructions I got online but I can't get past step 2!!!!
iPod is connected and I get into Devices and Removable Storage but my iPod
isn't in there...Am I doing something wrong? The music was originally
downloaded from a Mac...could that be the problem?

Ok...new hitch...I got into my music folder where my iPod's music is, but I
believe the instructions I have are for Windows XP and having Vista, I can't
figure where to go from here. Can anyone help me?

New breakthrough...I was able to create a folder and drag and drop the files
into it but now...I can't open the files in the folder because they are F00
files. I tried to download a fix but the fix said it couldn't be completely
downloaded? Now, does anyone have any advice...Man, it is 96 degress here
and this is causing me to feel just a bit irritated. Just a bit....
