Microsoft Movie Maker issues
I created a project on my home computer, then saved it to my jump drive.
When I went to open the project on my laptop, I have the title screens and
such, but none of the pictures, music, or video clips that I had imported
into the project. What can I do to save EVERYTHING from one computer to the
other?

Re: Microsoft Movie Maker issues
copies of the source files don't go into the project file.... you'll need
all of them too.

Re: Microsoft Movie Maker issues
OK, what's the easiest way to save the files and get them into Movie Maker,
and is it possible if my home computer's an XP and the laptop is a Vista?
Will I have to import them all into the project again? Also, if I burn the
project to a CD how would I get the pictures all into the project? Sorry,
I'm trying to burn this project for a whole class of Kindergarteners and I
don't want them to get home and the pictures not be in the project! Thanks
so much for any help!

============================
If your students are taking the project
home just for the purpose of viewing it...
you could save it in a movie format and
they can view it on any computer that has
Windows Media Player. Save info...at
the end of this message.

FWIW...the source files are not *in*
Movie Maker...the .mswmm file simply
records the *path* to the files. That's
why you need the original source files.

Beware...after you re-edit the .mswmm
project in Vista and resave it...it will no
longer be compatible with the WinXP
version of Movie Maker.

Try the following...

Copy all the source files into a folder.
Burn the folder on a CD or copy it to a
Memory Card, Jump Drive, etc...

Copy the folder onto the Vista machine...
desktop should be okay...

Now open the .mswmm project file in
Movie Maker and you will see Red Xs...
If you right click the Red Xs you should be
able to Browse to the source files and
re-establish the link to them.

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...
