Media Player not playing video files
Ok have been running Vista 64 for a few days now and having problems with
Media Player 11.

It will not play any videos except WMA files. I have installed the relevant
codecs etc and it did play divx videos until i shut down and restarted and
now when I try play any kind of video file that is not a WMA file I get the
following message that windows media player encountered a problem. The thing
is it worked before I shut down!

Any one got any ideas????

Re: Media Player not playing video files

Wow, that's pretty bad advice on her part.

The Mega and Full packs contain very bad crashing software - Voxware and
Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher. Please do not install those. Those will
make Vista crash.

As a professional working in the industry, I strongly advise against the
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

If you need a 'codec pack' (generally a bad idea), get the Combined
Community Codec Pack (CCCP). They have quality control and standards that
K-Lite does not.

I strongly recommend against codec packs. Get the codecs you need directly
from the applicable vendors: that will assure you that you get the latest
versions. K-Lite Full and Mega contain a number of security holes as a
result of their illicit distribution of old (commercial) binaries.
