Oh wow, yes, that's one of the worst out there.
Can you System Restore back to before you uninstalled it?
One of the very horrible things about codec packs is that they do NOT
uninstall cleanly. This is so braindead it hurts. If people recommend to
you codec packs, please be very very wary of their technical advice. =\
For what it's worth, most codec packs either cannibalize/pirate my work,
attempt to augment it, or otherwise generally (badly) build off work I do.
It's a field I understand very well, but unfortunately there's a lot of
incompetent people that generated a lot of really bad codec packs. CCCP is
mostly viable, but -- this whole field is just laden with awful and
terrible. Most of the multimedia issues I deal with are due to bad codec
packs. It's the most ridiculous and avoidable badness I've ever seen in the
PC industry. =P
