Sound distortion with Easycap USB capture card. Help please!

I am trying to capture vhs video from my camcorder using Easycap USB capture
card and Ulead studio software. I am having problems with the sound which is
distorted. I think it may be something to do with the input source which is
showing only one option which is "Master volume". This I think should be the
same as the usb line. All the other settings appear to be set correctly.
Does anyone know what the solution to this could be. I am using Windows
Vista Ultimate.

I had the same garbled sound problem. My fix was to plug the audio cable
directly into the sound card input jack.
This will bypass the USB sound connection. It worked for me, hope it
will work for you. I was making my video from a VCR.
