Thumbnail view not available

Windows Vista home premium. In the 'Paul/Pictures' folder, 'views' tab, there
isn't a 'thumbnail' option. I see only 'extra large, large, medium, small,
list ,details and tiles'. The icons beside the picture files show some
generic type file format presentation, such as a sail boat.

View - uncheck [ ] "Always show icons, never thumbnails"

As Dave said.

The labels on the view slider do not change but the "medium icons" and
larger settings should all show thumbnails in increasing sizes.
