Windows Media Player will not load my songs

About a week ago i was having problems with my user profile on vista i was
able to get that straigten out but i had to create another one and delete the
old. Anyway windows media will not allow me to add the songs that were in
their originally back into it. I go to the library tab and click "add to
library" but nothing comes up. i can even rip a cd and that will not add to
my library. All my songs etc are on the computer just not the library,
although i can still use media player to play them.
