Can't view recovered photos

Thanks to Search and Recover 4 which I purchased yesterday, I have managed to
retrieve photos I had inadvertently deleted from the Photo Gallery as well as
the emptied Recycle Bin, but now I can't appear to view them in any format
and they remain closed.

When I try to view them using the Vista Photo Gallery I get the message
indicating the format isn't supported and/or an update is required. My laptop
is just over 1 month old and Windows was pre-installed.

Other options, such as Paint, Adobe, etc. don't appear to work either,
indicating the format isn't supported or the files may have been damaged. Any
suggestions?

Can you view them as thumbnails?

Are you able to see what file extensions they have?
