Saving pictures to desktop folder
I have been the unhappy user of Vista for 2 days now, and am having trouble
saving pictures from my digital camera to a desktop folder, as could be done
with XP. They go into the Windows Picture Gallery, and I don't see a "move"
button to send them where I want.

Re: Saving pictures to desktop folder
The photos don't "go into" Windows Photo Gallery.
WPG can import the photos from your camera or disk and store them where you
tell it. Then it displays thumbnails of the photos.
When it goes to import the photos, click on the Options link in the lower
left.
Or, open WPG, and select File - Options - Import

The newer Windows Live Photo Gallery gives you more features.

Re: Saving pictures to desktop folder

First I make a "new folder" for my pictures and give it an appropiate
name ( such as "golf_8") then then I Plug in the USB cable from my
camera
( don't like to handle the memory card too much) turn on the camera
and then click "my computer" icon on my desktop, another removable disk
will be there.
Then I explore that disk and find the DCIM folder, in that folder
there will be a folder called 101MSDCF Or some such name open that
folder and you will see all your pictures simply select all and copy and
paste to the above folder. I then delete all the pictures in the
101MSDCF folder if I want. Then I open my "new folder" click on "edit"
then "select all", right click and click on rename and take the first
string of letters and change DSC ( leaving the sequential numbers) to
something like Golf_08 and all my pictures are renamed so I know what
they are. This I find handy when making a sildeshow, the pictures should
come up in the same sequence that they were taken in with your digital
camera.
