Picture lost/deleted after "Fix" in Windows photo gallery

Well I had some jpeg picture files in m computer, already in windows
photo gallery for some reason, and I went to edit them via fix. I fixed
some red eye and cropped the photo.. and pressed back to gallery, it
supposedly saved. When returning to gallery and upon clicking the photo
I just edited.... the photo is completely gone. Even when I go to the
original folder of the photo...if I click the photo nothing comes up
because it says the file is empty. I have lost 2-3 photos experimenting
with this and have no idea how to fix it. Any advice/help please?
