It means that the data on the disc is different from the data read from the
disc. CRC checks are a faster alternative to doing byte-for-byte comparisons
of data in two different locations. CRC checks are not foolproof but
compute faster than, say, MD5 checksums. Perhaps you have a dirty or
scratched disc. When you see this, take out the disc and clean it with
Windex and toilet paper (or the equivalent).
I recently saw this very error attempting to clone a dvd using Slysoft's
CloneDVD. I took the disc out, cleaned it and tried again. Fortunately the
error went away.
It's usually good policy to clean ALL dvds BEFORE attempting to rip them.
