Why do I get a message that says my computer is missing a codec?

hi Im trying to put a song from Itunes onto Windows Movie Maker and for some
reason this pops up:

The file cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is
not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and
install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to
import the file again.

I can't figure out what to do with this b/c I do't know what codec it needs,
any suggestions?

emm in Itunes the codex u can only use it in Itunes or iphone or an Ipod

if u are going to use a song in a video u need to buy the cd or download it
on a diferent place like i use Easy News..
