windows photo gallery

I have started going through my 11000 pictures on my external hardrive on my
laptop via networking in my home, which I have got down to 4000 left to put
into catagories. I thought I would now do a few more on my desktop computer
which is linked to the same network. Although the tag catagories have come up
in the index the photo's do not seem to have been recognised on my desktop as
it shows I still need to do 11000 photos. Is there a way of saving these so
both of my computers will recognise the tags as you can do in photoshop
elements
