Audio help!

Ive been havin sound problems with a new laptop i recently bought running on
windows vista. The sound for everything is crackled and distorted, however
everything is fine when i plug earphones in, which suggests its the speakers
which arent functioning correctly. Any siggestions??

If you turn off Enhancements on the audio card, does it sound better?
