Even if Microsoft spent $$$$$$$$ to supply "all the codecs", that wouldn't
inherently prevent people from installing bad codecs on their systems.
I have no idea how GOM or MPC and that sort of thing handle licensing of the
technology they include. It is pretty interesting, but not really germane
to solving your crash. =)
