videos wont show properly

hi
i just got a dell and it has windows vista, i have had many problems since
then
i cant see the videos or photos like in xp
i download video clips (shorts) from my canon cybershot to my pc
and the videos show veeery slow. and dont understand why
i installed the canon software in my vista and in my other xp computer i
didnt had any problem viewing my videos. can someone tell me whats happening?
