Vista, WMP11, Sync to Device Storage Card
Under XP I had no problem using WMP11 to sync music files to my smartphone
(Blackjack) 2 gig storage card. Under Vista I can use Explorer to read/write
to the storage card. However WMP will not recognize or list the storage card
as a destination for syncs. The storage card isn't listed and can't be
encouraged to list it.
I know that many other people are having this problem as well. I've seen at
least 20 threads in various groups on the net. Some people have gotten it to
work by deleting an XML file in the root of the storage card. This hasn't
worked for me.
Does anyone here have a solution?
As a side issue, under XP there seems to be some sort of a magic maximum
number of music files that can be synced to a device, even if you have way
more storage than that. For me the limit was 434 files. I don't think that
this was necessarily a device RAM memory problem since that number stayed
static regardless of how many apps were in memory at the time. Basically,
the sync process just hung whenever the limit was reached. Does anyone have
any info on this?
