media player 11 and vista.

I have read all the posts about this problem for 3 dyas now and I am still at
a loss as what to do. I have done everything microsoft said to do but I
still can not get my home digital vidios to play on WMP 11. I have
downloaded those codec till they came out my ears. I am not as computer savy
as ya'll are. Can some one explain in simple terms what is wrong and what I
need to do to fix it?

You only need one specific video codec and one specific audio codec to play
any specific clip. Anybody suggestion anything further is wrong and not
helping you.

Randomly downloading codecs can be extrememly bad/corrosive to your system,
since many are of very very poor quality.

What specific file types are you referring to here? What's the file
extension? What specific error are you running into? What specific codecs
do those files use?
