Media player library

Every time I open media player all the songs keep appearing twice. I keep
deleting second copy from list, but next time I open media player the appear
twice again. How do I stop this from happening?

I'm having the same problem. I think it was because media center checked both
my local hard drive and a backup drive, which contains duplicate files. I've
told media center not to look at the backup drive, but all the duplicate
files remain. Very annoying. Can't find any way to fix it and it makes media
center pretty much useless.

See thread "Vista Media Player 11 Duplicate files". I can see where my files
are coming from 2 different files. I have to wait till all the duplicates
come back to try and fix, but I think this is the answer.
