No *.wav from outside

Hi Guys,

i bought a new computer with a pre-installed Vista Home 32.
I installed a software to note me with a sound when a new email is in my mail-account.

My problem is that this software dont play the soundfile (*.wav).
When I open the soundfile directly from Explorer it plays with no problems.
Before you say that i must check the soundvolume of the software, the software plays different of the windows-systemsounds (/windows/media/*.wav) with no problems.

When i go to the windows-sytemsound-options an try to change from a windowssound to my wavefile windows dont play it.

I downloaded other Wavefiles from the web an all with the same problem.

Windows plays non-Windows-Wavefiles only with the mediaplayer not through any software.

What do you mean by "installed a software"?
All you have to do is copy a .wav file to a folder on the C: drive
and set the system to use that file for new mail.
Start - Control Panel - Sound - Sounds - New Mail Notification
browse to the folder and select the file.

I use the AOL "You've got mail" file.
