BITS - problem with downloading music

I am new to computers and MP3 players. I was trying to download a song from
HMV Digital.com but couldnt activate their Download Manager as the following
message appeared :-

"HMVDIG ~ 1
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) couldnt be started - it
may be disabled. start it in the control panel / admnistrative tools /
services."
options from the above message were 'retry' or 'cancel'.

I went into the control panel and found the field and pressed the 'restart'
button, then went bac to the attempted download and pressed 'retry' but
didnt work. I dont know what to do now and I
am considering sending back my new MP3 as I cant get a song downloaded onto
it through WMP.

WMP version I have is version 11.
32 bit operating system.
