Windows DVD Maker

I've been using WMM and Windows DVD Maker in Vista for several months. It
worked, but ran very slow on my previous machine P4 3.2Ghz, 2G ram, etc. I
just recently got a new machine -Core 2 duo, 4GB ram, etc. with excellent
performance, and I thought Windows DVD Maker would run much faster, but
instead it's even slower now. I burned a DVD last night that was about 40%
complete after 4 hours before going to bed. It completed successfully, but I
can't figure out why it's so slow... I had no other programs running
besides occasionally monitoring the the CPU usage, etc. BTW, I was burning
an AVI file encoded with DivX as the source.

I'd really like to use WinDVD Maker instead of other "bloatware burners"
that install a dozen other startup programs, monitoring services, etc...

Any ideas on why WDM goes so extremely slow?

It IS slow, and I'm happy (unhappy?) to learn that upgrading computer is
unlikely to help.

I'm having trouble finding a ng or forum dealing with DVD Maker.

Doesn't seem much action here.

Have you figured out how to make a menu of words of DVD content, rather than
a flashing video view window?

I haven't, but I actually haven't tried doing that yet - I'll let you know
after I play around with it some more.
