Unable to see shared content with WMP11/Vista

I am using Vista32 and WMP11. I have a Linux server with a working Samba
share the I have no problem reading writing to from this PC. WMP11 can import
the content stored on this server and it plays without issue locally on this
Vista PC. However, I cannot seem to allow the shared content to be seen on
UPnP/DLNA devices in the network. The only thing these UPnP devices see is
what is local to the PC, nothing on the server. I have media sharing setup,
the correct shares added to the "monitor" list, but no joy. Is this possible?
If so, what I am I missing? TIA.
