Audio and Video in WMP11 and Media Center
I'm not sure where to start.

When I try to play a media file in WMP11, I don't hear any sound. System
sounds and audio from other applications work fine.

When I try to play a video file in Media Center, it starts out okay, but
then seems to stall after just a few seconds. The video slows down to a crawl
and the audio stops playing.

Like I said, I'm not sure where to start diagnosing this problem. Is it
possible there is a conflict from incompatible drivers?

Try to download Media Player 11 from this link. That should overwrite the
one you have and fix the problem .

RE: Audio and Video in WMP11 and Media Center
Are you sure it would be wise to download Windows Media Player 11 for XP when
I already have WMP11 for Vista installed? Is there a difference between the
Vista and XP versions or are they identical?

Get ffdshow from the internets, it is most likely a codec issue.

Why ffdshow? Just adding another codec to the mix may actually make things
worse. Have you experienced the same problem and found ffdshow to be the
solution? I know ffdshow is a pretty good decoder, but I don't see any Vista
references on the sourceforge site.
