DVD to Mpeg4 conversion supported in Vista (all apps BSOD)

basically what I want to do is take personal home movies (unencrypted,
non-copyrighted) I have on DVD (vob video_ts) and convert them to
H.264/MPeg4 so I can play them on Itunes /Ipod ...

The problem I'm running into is that all the applications I've used under
XP to do this (Pinnacle Studio plus, avantgard DVD to Ipod etc) all BSOD
under Vista (even if run as administrator /XP SP2 compadibility mode) I
have also downloaded a dozen more "trial" versions of commerical
applications from large companies .. that don't work.. and no vista update
ETA on there website and it's frustrating .. or does Vista have this
conversion ability built into it.. but I'm just missing where to do it..

anybody know of a vendor that has a Vista Certified application for video
conversion ... or at least one that won't crash under Vista?

Look at Roxio Media Creator 9.
