Multiple instances

Hi,
Just got Windows Vista 2 days ago. Overall my experience has been
pleasureable except for the "windows photo gallery". Every time I open an
image file a new instance of Photo Gallery opens. This probably wouldn't be a
bad thing if I were doing photo editing or websites, but I'm viewing hundreds
if not thousands of pictures a day. I have to manually close out each and
every instance. THIS SUCKS! How do I "turn off" multiple instances or
re-install Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? Is there a comperable program that
either doesn't have this quirk or has an option to alternate?

There's an image editor that is part of Office 2003 called the Microsoft
Office Picture Manager that works great for that. It has several views you
can use including a thumbnail or a thumbnail with a larger size of the
selected image. If you open one file in a folder, you can, from the same
application instance, view all files in the folder.

It doesn't appear to be included with Office 2007 because my installation
did not replace the Office 2003 version with a 2007 look and feel version.
At least the 2007 installation didn't eliminate that as it did the Office
File Viewer or whatever the printer thing in 2003 was.
