Error code 0x88982F40 when modilfying metadata

I've been having problems with modifying the metadata of certain photos. I am
able to modify the metadata of certain photos without a problem, but
seemingly randomly, I encounter the error message:

Title:
Apply Properties File

Body:
An unexpected error is prventing the operation. Make a note of this error
code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this
problem:

Error 0x88982F40: No error description available

What is the problem here (I had a very unpleasant run-in with a Microsoft
Customer Support representative who refused to give any help, so I am getting
desperate).

I had/have the same problem. I have a partial

solution posted in the
following newsgroups:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.file_management
microsoft.public.windows.vista.general
microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_vide o

Look for the subject line:

Error 0x88982F50 Partial Solution, Chapter 1

Personally, I suspect but don't actually know why this

problem has come up.
Neither do I know (for sure) why my solution works

(sorta). But until one
of these tech type people comes up with something,

this is the best advice
I can give.
