Photo Gallery keeps crashing
I am having a real hard time with the Photo Gallery in Vista. If I go to my
Pictures folder in Explorer, and open a picture that way, I can cycle
through them with no problem, but for example if I import some pictures from
my CF card, once they are in and Photo Gallery is making the thumbs look
pretty, it crashes saying COM Surrogate crashed, then RunDLL32 crashed, and
sometimes even says Windows Photo Gallery crashed.
Am I the only one having problems? This was a clean install and my pictures
are stored on a file share on my server, and I'm on a domain. SBS2003 R2 is
the server OS.
Here is one example of an event log:

RE: Photo Gallery keeps crashing
I'd love to see some answer here. I've a brand new machine, with Vista Home
Premium and Windows Photo Gallery has never opened successfully. I get a msg:
"Windows Photo Gallery is now closing" with no suggested resolution. It's
never worked once.

RE: Photo Gallery keeps crashing
My Windows Gallery keeps crashing on a brand new machine. Microsft claim
there are no problems they are aware of. Does anyone have any bright ideas?

Re: Photo Gallery keeps crashing
Are you hitting that exact crash or a different crash? Dave's crash got a
response (if he had submitted it?) and was due to an old version of
nevideo.ax (Nero Video decoder).
