Windows Photo Gallery Slide Show Error

I'm having troubles with the Slide Show function in Windows Photo Gallery.
Whenever I click the Play Slide Show button, the slide show starts but the
screen is flickering. The images do change at the selected speed, but
whenever an image shows, the whole screen flickers which makes it almost
impossible to look at. This goes for all image formats.

I'm running Windows Vista Business Edition on a HP Pavillon dv9094ea with a
nVidia GeForce Go 7600 (256 MB DDR SDRAM) graphics card.
