No playback on Audio CDs
Just recently my PC has not been able to play audio CDs. They were fine on
initial install of Vista but now nothing. If I put a CD in the drive media
player skips down 4 or 5 tracks putting an x next to them and pops up this
message:

"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file. For
additional assistance, click Web Help."

All other audio on my machine is fine. Just audio CDs. Any ideas?

No guarantees...but the following thread appears
to address the issue you are experiencing:

Windows Media Player error c00d11b1 solved

The message posted by GaryA. sounds like a
possible fix.

Good luck.

Re: No playback on Audio CDs
Hi John,

Thanks for the response. This problem only applies to audio CDs and not
mp3s etc with DRM involved. Although I followed your link anyway to be on
the safe side and it had no effect. Thank you for the idea though,
appreciated.

What I forgot to mention earlier is that the CD-ROM is working fine
otherwise. It's literally just a playback issue. I can also rip the CD to
drive and then play, which has confused me even more!

Sorry...it just sounded like a similar issue.

Have you installed any recent updates that
could be the culprit?

Maybe reinstalling WMP or doing a system
restore would be worth a try.
