Micrpohone/Speaker
The microphone was already installed, but no sound from microphone coming out
from the headphone/computer speaker.
If I record any sound from the microphone and play it, the recorded sound is
audable in the headphone/computer speaker.
If I open the voice mixer, there is no volume control for the microphone,
not like in Windows XP.
What should I do, to hear any sound from the microphone in my headphone or
computer speaker. Please help!

Right click on the Speaker icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Select
Playback Devices. In the Playback window, highlight Speakers and press the
Properties button. On the Levels tab, adjust the Microphone slider.

RE: Micrpohone/Speaker
HELPPP!
I have Vista and use an AKG mic with a Lightsnake USB cable to record into
CoolEdit Pro 2.1. My problems: first I was overmodulating, driving the mic
too hot and can't find a volume control. So I followed the advice on this
thread. Now I have no volume...no recording. I tried the mic on my laptop and
it worked fine...but I can't get voulme on playback on the laptop with new
recordings. All of this is quite recent. Everything worked fine a couple of
weeks ago.

Re: Micrpohone/Speaker

To 'Cal Bear 66', first off I say 'Go Banana Slugs', (UCSC represent).
For all practical purposes, I can't figure out why your suggestion
doesn't work on MY version of vista ultimate 32 bit, your description of
the volume control icon and it's subsequent menus is right on, however,
my mic doesn't show up as a level you can adjust in the speaker
properties area, the levels are clearly there for the mic icon, I can
record (albeit in silence) and playback, but I just can't get the
speakers to run the mic through. There has to be a simple solution to
all this. Also, who knows how to get a mono mic to show up on both
stereo channels (say in cool edit pro).
