WMP wont auto launch streamed video

My media player will not auto launch streamed video from internet explorer
(IE 7). When I click on a vid link a new tab will open with the window saying
that the page cannot be displayed and the actual link address in the address
bar. I have to copy that and paste it in the "open URL" in the WMP "file"
menu to get it to play. This is annoying and tideous, is there a fix for this?

Check in Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your Default Programs,
and make sure Windows Media Player has all of its defaults when you click on
"Choose defaults for this program."

Then install this:

Cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista:

Under Options in WMP, do you have 'Connect to the internet' checked?

I just tried all the steps and still no luck. Is there any one who can help,
or is this just like this for Vista?

Hi I posted this problem Oct 1 under "streaming video problem". Same issue,
but no one has been able to suggest a resolution that works. Hopefully
someone from Vista will read this and respond with a workable solution. It is
pretty clear that this is a problem for several users.
