Copying DVD's

I have just bought a laptop with Windows Vista Premium, am currently trying
to work out how I can copy a DVD I got some useful info from the help screens
:
A data DVD is different than a DVD-Video disc (the kind of DVD that you get
when you rent a movie, for example). Windows Media Player cannot burn
DVD-Video discs. However, if your computer is running Windows Vista Home
Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate, you can use Windows DVD Maker to burn this
type of disc.

As it says above I have now went to DVD Maker to try to do this but simply
cannot work it out, I have been advised by a friend I need to get software
for copying movie DVD's. I am simply trying to copy my friends Wedding DVD
help??

any simple advise would be great please note I am not techically minded.

You need dvd writing software, not dvd - video making software to do this
job, as it is simply a matter of copying what is on the disc. Programmes
like nero/roxio do it, if you have one of these, otherwise look for
deepburner on the net. I don't have vista on my pc at present so can't say
if dvd maker has dvd writing capabilities.
