If you literally mean cut portions of the video away discarding them
while viewing in media player you can't. If you really mean reduce the
size the video takes up on screen in Media player, the easy way is to
start it up and move your mouse over a corner of the window Media
Player in running in, hover until the cursor changes to a double
headed arrow then drag in or out at an 45 degree angle to get it to
the size you want while holding down your left mouse button. You can
also click on options to force to 50% size. If you want to play around
GOM Player offers a ton more options.
