Can't download music to Samsung MP3 player

I finally purchased a MP3 player. I tried to download my songs into it and
received an Encoder Error message. I went to Microsoft and downloaded and
installed version 9 and still could not get the songs into the player. About
6 songs downloaded and all of the rest showed as errors. Is there a way to
fix this? Some songs were WMA and some MP3.
