WMP11 and Realtek HD Audio - Incompatible???
Been tearing my hair out for months. Can't seem to solve a problem I have.
WMP11 won't play anything I rip from CD. Copy protect is off when I rip but
wondering if it might be a DRM issue. Interestingly the sample files that
ship with WMP11 (audio and video) won't play either. If I rip in lossless
format they do play but that's impractical, too storage hungry. And ripped
files will play in other media players (Roxio, Cyberlink Power DVD).

LG P1 Express Dual Notebook
Vista Business
Realtek HD Audio driver 1.69

Any help greatly appreciated !!

I don't know if it would improve the issue
but there is a more current driver available:

RealTek Software: Drivers & Utilities
High Definition Audio Codecs

And maybe the following link will lead to
something useful:

Re: WMP11 and Realtek HD Audio - Incompatible???
Thanks for your help, found a solution on another forum which I'll post
below, turned out to be something simple if you know where to look. Turns out
DRM wasn't involved, don't know why lossless format worked though when other
formats didn't. But as long as I can play my tunes I'm a happy man!

Cheers, Scott

Open Control Panel, Sound, click on Speakers (Playback tab), Advanced,

and untick Exclusive Mode "All applications to take exclusive control of this

device"
