SWITCHING FROM OUTLOOK 2003 TO WINDOWS MAIL
If I switch from Outlook 2003 to Windows Mail will I be able to import my
contacts and calendar information. Also, any inherent problems I should be
aware of such as sending attachments that were previously created in XP
rather than Vista. Are there any advantages to Windows Mail over Outlook
2003? Thank you.

Re: SWITCHING FROM OUTLOOK 2003 TO WINDOWS MAIL
Outlook 2003 is more stable and far less buggy than Windows Mail.

Outlook will sync with a mobile device.
Outlook will get mail from pop, imap, and http.
Groups in WinMail are not as easy to use (work differently).
Outlook's pst file can be placed on a network drive.

Why on earth would you want to switch to Windows Mail from Outlook.

Outlook is far more advantageous than Windows Mail. WM has a lot of issues that is not very desirable

Why on earth would you want to switch to Windows Mail from Outlook.

Outlook is far more advantageous than Windows Mail. WM has a lot of
issues that is not very desirable

-----
I'm not the OP but am considering the same thing. My reason for doing
so is because my license for Outlook is from a copy of Office 2003
S&T. I'm upgrading to Office H&S 2007 which does not include Outlook.
I want to uninstall the 2003 S&T license completely so I can transfer
it to someone else.

My need for Outlook is minimal. All I do it read email and use some
simple rules to route incoming mail to certain folders based on
destination address, and auto-forward a few.

I use Windows Mail for a news reader and find it satisfactory. Is it
really so bad an email client that I shouldn't consider it? If true,
and if I still want to uninstall Outlook 2003, would TBird or similar
freeware suit my needs? I tried and rejected TBird several years ago
because it couldn't auto-forward as an action of a rule.

TIA
