Setting up Windows Mail Account: 'pop-server.houston.rr.com', Serv
I recently bought a new computer with Windows Vista and am trying to setup
Windows Mail. I entered the server info I used on my previous computer:

incoming: pop-server.houston.rr.com
outgoing: stmp-server.houston.rr.com

(roadroaner was purchased by comcast, but i have not been notified that my
account has been switched )

but I get the following error message when entering windows mail:

Account: 'pop-server.houston.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.houston.rr.com',
Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid command', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL):No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Any suggestions?

I assume that "outgoing: stmp-server.houston.rr.com" was a typo, and
that your actual entry has "smtp" instead of "stmp".

Anyway, the error message reflects a receive error.
The "-ERR invalid command" is likely due to interference
from your antivirus program, as Julian's response already implied.
Windows Mail seems is overly sensitive to corruption
from antivirus programs, and is definitely incompatible with most
McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. If you are using either
of those latter two, it is best to uninstall them and replace with a
more compatible antivirus, such as the free version of Avast:
