Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
My email was fine until the last couple days - now I cant send any email.

What happens is this: I create a message, hit send/receive. It acts like it
sends it. No messages in the outbox, and the message is in the sent folder.

I am running Windows OneCare. I have tried disabling the firewall and it
didnt help.

Re: Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
What happens when you send an email to yourself, does it arrive?
If it doesn't arrive, can you use webmail to check the server to see
if it is there?

Re: Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
He probably looked at the message headers and saw
"X-Newsreader: Microsoft CDO for Windows 2000"

and I guess he assumed you were using W2K, but it actually indicates that
you posted the message via the web interface. At least, I think it does....

Re: Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
Thanks for the reply! Its appreciated as I have tried EVERYTHING.

Not sure what you mean by 'WebMail'but here is asummary of what I have tried:

- I ran your program a couple times - didnt fix or report any errors

- Disabled OneCare firewall and antivirus both - didnt help.

- Rest my wireless router (LinkSys WRT54g - which I havnt touched in ages!!)

- Enabled logging on my wireless router and looked at the outgoing
connections after I sent an email - I could see an outbound connection to
SMTP to the proper address

- I used my providers web interface to send an email to myself, and received
it via Windows Mail.

- Sent numerous emails to myself trying various settings in Windows Mail.

- Turned off the autotuning feature of Vista , didnt work - turned it back on.

UGGGG - I may setup a gmail account and see if I can use its servers.

Any other suggestions?

Re: Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
Regarding webmail: In addition to providing their customers with a
POP email account, most ISPs also provide a means of accessing that
account via a web interface using a browser. This is very handy when
on travel or away from your home computer.

Not sure what you mean by "ran your program a couple of times."
I have not mentioned a program in this thread, nor am I the author of
any publicly available programs.

With no error messages being generated, it is difficult to troubleshoot
this any further from my end. You may have to go the Gmail route.

Re: Cant SEND email using Windows Mail
Sorry! I thought you were the author of WMUtil.exe since I found this in many
of your posts.

Yeah I have not received any error messages. The only thing I can think of
is trying Gmail....The one other possibility is OneCare is freaking out. My
trust in OneCare isnt that high - although I wish it was!
