problem with setting up my email account

It seems like my hotmail.com account doesn't work on windows mail, i am trying to set up my account what kind of email can work on that program??

Windows Mail can't handle Hotmail.
You will need to get Windows Live Mail for that:

since MS decided to restrict the use of hotmail and yahoo, most are now using
Thunderbird. Yes, I whom have hated mozilla stuff forever and touted the
advantages of MS programs, am also forced to leave Vista Mail unused until
Microsoft FIXES their software to work correctly.

If you need Hotmail access, you can upgrade Windows Mail to
Windows Live Mail:

How is Yahoo now "restricted"? Outlook Express never had the
ability to access Yahoo webmail. Reportedly, there is a third party
add-on called YPOPs that may do what you want.

I don't see why MS should help out a webmail rival like Yahoo.
Yahoo should make free POP access available to everyone, such
as Gmail has now done. Yahoo is starting to go down the tubes,
and I saw in yesterday's paper that they are going to try some
new things to improve the situation.
