Error sending and recieving mail Windows Vista

P;ease help with this error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net',
Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10057, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

If you Restart the computer do you get the same message?
Can you browse the Internet?

Yes can browse the internet no problem, happens even with a restart.

As Gary asked, are you using Norton or McAfee? If so, uninstall it and try.
