mail settings get reset automatically
Every few weeks when I go to get mail I get an error about my username and
password. I go to Accounts/Mail/Properties/servers and my username and
password are blank. I am using the spam filter Popfile and I need to have
my username as "pop3.comcast.net:<username>" as opposed to JUST my user
name.

Why is Vista automatically erasing my information and how do I stop this
from happening?

Thanks!

Eddie G

Re: mail settings get reset automatically
Based on info from the website, I'm thinking that Popfile just isn't
compatible with Vista, because the most recent release date isover a year
ago, and Vista is *not* listed in the supported OS versions.

Yes, but I would like a programmer to explain to me how the mail program is
deleting my information, and why every 4-6 weeks instead of more frequently?

Re: mail settings get reset automatically
I'm sorry, but you probably won't get any detailed replies in these
newsgroups.

The best I can offer is that Vista does a lot of things differently than XP.
Because of this, many third-party programs do not work as they are supposed
to when you install them on Vista. Until Popfile is updated, it will
probably be a recurring problem.

As far as how often, that's probably just a random thing. Over time, it
might happen more often, or it might correct itself when another program
updates a shared file or something.

Re: mail settings get reset automatically
You won't get anything from MS, but usually if the name and password fail
WinMail erases them because "they must be wrong" even though it may really
be a mestake at the server.
