Re: Outlook Express Contact Folders
Thanks for your explanation.
Upon further investigation I see that Contact Groups in WLM are
more flexible than I had experienced with WM.
WLM contact groups are expandable (thus can be trimmed on the
fly), while WM contact groups can't be expanded on the 'To' line,
so it's only an all-or-nothing distribution list.

Chalk one up in the win column for WLM!

Re: Outlook Express Contact Folders
Noel... I understand what you are saying, but if I have a group that has 50
contacts in it, and I want to send to 20 of them, then I have to delete on
the "To:" line 30 of them... instead of just selecting the 20 that I want. I
just can't figure out why MS would not carry forward a feature that I used
extensively... and I assume others did too. I guess my only option is to
install the full blown Outlook because I know it has this feature... at least
Outlook 2003 does.

Thanks everyone for your response.

Re: Outlook Express Contact Folders
I suppose there always will be people unhappy over the fact that
WLM has fewer features than Outlook. If that was not the case,
MS would have a tough time charging money for Outlook.

Re: Outlook Express Contact Folders
To clarify, are you asking for support for having groups as members of
groups? (groups inside groups?)

Thanks,
Alton

Re: Outlook Express Contact Folders
If I may speak for Doug, he wants to be able to select from members of
a group on the fly, as far as which ones will appear on the 'To' line.
This is the opposite of how WLM's contacts group works, with all members
of that group appearing on the 'To' line, and further selection is done by
deleting the ones you don't want. There are trade-offs either way. If you
will be using almost all the members of a group, the WLM way is faster.
If you need less than half of a group, Doug's way is faster.
