Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
This morning Vista Home did an automatic update. Since then I cannot access
or send email. The message is
"The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.btinternet.com',
Server: 'mail.btinternet.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"
I have done a system restore but to no avail. The mail worked fine before. I
have tried turning off email scanning from Norton but that does not seem to
make any difference.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

RE: Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
I am having the same problem. I just started a new job and they are trying to
set me up e-mail with Windows Mail and have it connect to their server. I was
able to send two e-mails, but when people responded I did not receive them.
What should I do?

Someone should give uncle Bill a pointed tail and a pitchfork.

Re: Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
Norton antivirus is not compatible with Windows Mail.
Many users have posted here with reports saying that no relief
was obtained until they completely uninstalled Norton.
The same goes for McAfee.

Re: Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
Can you send an email to yourself and does it arrive?
Any error message when you click on the Send/Recv button?
Does it go through the motions of contacting the server?

Re: Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
I've been in this business a long time. Most mail problems
are due to user errors.

Re: Windows Mail - cannot receive or send
You could do that. Or you could attempt to get help here
by describing your issue clearly and in detail.
