Using different incoming and outgoing mial servers
I am temporarily living away from my primary residence (for 2 months) and
would like to use Windows Mail to receive and send e-mail from my normal
e-mail accout, which is a roadrunner account. I have adjusted my settings so
the incoming settings are still roadrunner, and have adjusted my outgoing
setting to my new ISP server (stmp.colorado.edu). I can receive mail but not
send. I am receiving the following error message
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was 'bfleming@nyc.rr.com'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'pop-server.nyc.rr.com', Server: 'smtp.colorado.edu', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 Relaying denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
I spoke with the colorado tech support, and they ssait should be set as an
IMAP connection, and possibly with TLS. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks.

Re: Using different incoming and outgoing mial servers
You can go here for the basic settings:
http://www.colorado.edu/its/docs/ema...okexpress.html
Ignore any parts that refer to IMAP or the incoming server.
The pertinent settings for you are:
Select SSL for the outgoing (SMTP) server [Advanced tab].
Select "My server requires authentication" [Servers tab].
Click on the Settings button associated with the latter,
then click "Logon using" then fill in your University account
name and password. That should do it.
