problem with email using gmail

I set up my gmail account in Windows Mail and I know everything is correct.
However, when i close out the window where i set it up, nothing happens. I
pressed send/receive and still nothing happens. can someone help me find my
mail?

Maybe you don't have any mail.

Did you turn on the POP function on the Gmail webpage?

Did you change the ports and enable SSL on the WinMail Advanced tab?

Are you sure you have activated/ enabled POP on the Gmail web site itself?

To enable POP in your Google Mail account:

1.. Log in to your Google Mail account.
2.. Click Settings at the top of any Google Mail page.
3.. Click Forwarding and POP in the orange Mail Settings box.

4.. Select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives
from now on.
5.. Choose the action that you would like your Google Mail messages to
take after they are accessed with POP.
Don't forget to SAVE changes.
