Blocked Attachments with COMCAST .txt works but not .MPs or video
I have configured Windows Mail to connect to the POP3 server at COMCAST. When
I connect, I am able to download messages with .doc and .txt attachments. If
there is a message with a .mp3 attachment, the COMCAST server reports a time
out. The Windows mail status window reports that the message has downloaded
about 63k out of 2meg of the message and stopped.

There is non virus scanner running at the time.

If I download only the headers,it works fine. Also, whan I try the same on
an XP OS machine with Outlook or Outlook express, the entire message down
loads fine.

Why would XP work and Vista not with almost the same mail application
connecting to the same POP3 server?

You indicated that there was no virus scanner running at the time.
However, quite a few people have reported here that they had
no relief until they completely uninstalled their antivirus program
(McAfee or Norton's). Try that. Also, are you using any other kind
of third party security software such as firewall, anti-spam, anti-
malware, etc.? As a last resort, install a different email program
such as Thunderbird, or wait for Microsoft to release Windows
Live Mail in the next few days.

Thanks Gary
I am only running the windows firewall. Even if I turn it off, it does not
make a difference. My guess is there is some type of protocol issue between
the two. I will probably get out my Ethereal and sniff the exchange. I will
look into Windows live mail. I do not want to buy Outlook 2007 yet.

The error is really strange. Just starts the download and then hangs.

under the Advanced tab of you accounts might try increasing the timeout value.
I usually run 3 minutes and have no problems using comcast.

Outlook won't help anyway, as it uses WinMail for news. See if mikey's
suggestion works.
