pop3 error
I recently bought two new Vista computers to replace two XP computers on our
network. Everything works fine, except for email. I have followed the
instructions provided by our ISP to the letter (spent an hour on the phone
with their tech support trying to resolve the issue). I get the following
error message whenever I try to access the account:

Account: 'McLaurin', Server: 'pop.telus.net', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!',
Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number:
0x800CCC90.

This happens on both computers. But our remaining XP based computers
connect the way they always have, which makes me think the problem must be
some conflict in Vista that we're running into. any thoughs

Eliminate email scanning. Unless avg for vista is different than earlier
iterations, first uninstall and then reinstall using the custom option
and don't select the email scanning option. You will not lose any
protection by doing so.

Re: pop3 error
"AVG POP3 Proxy Server"? Don't tell me you have your
antivirus configured to scan email after everything that's been
posted here!
Read http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3
See if you can disable AVG's email scanning feature.
If you can't, uninstall it, then reinstall using the custom option to
*not* install that feature.
