Set default views in newsgroups
Whenever I view a new newsgroup, the default view is always 'show watched
messages'. In order to see the posts I have to switch the view to 'show
all'.

Is there a good reason for this default behavior and is there a way to
change the *default* view to 'show all' or 'hide read'?

Thanks - Oppie

That is odd.
For me the view is always (I think) as I left it
last time I read the group.

But then again maybe my few watched messages have little traffic.

It does actually make sense to automatically set the view to watched
if there has been activity on the threads since you marked to watch
the message in the first place. I can't see a way to change it.

Once the group has been opened once and the view preference set, it will
stay that way every time the newsgroup is re-opened. Just a nuissance when
browsing newsgroups for the first time (deciding what to subscribe to) and
having to go back and change the view so that something will actually
display (this assuming that since it is the first time reading that group
that there are no messages marked to watch).

Thanks

Re: Set default views in newsgroups
if you go to VIEW select CURRENT VIEW and DEFINE, select the view of choice and check the apply to all button and ok/apply it.
